I am a firm believer in getting back to the intent of our Founding Fathers, The Constitution. Government is becoming more overbearing and less efficient. I firmly support the platform of the Republican Party, specifically;

Platform

Taxes and Limited Government - “Government should live within its means…” I have continually fought to keep taxes and spending limited in Brainerd and very outspoken against new and raised fees. I was previously endorsed by the Taxpayer’s League of Minnesota and will sign the Taxpayer Protection Pledge as I did four years ago, (http://www.taxpayersleague.org/). Representative Ward has a 0% rating with the Taxpayer’s League.

Preserving Civil Rights - “Innocent human life, born and unborn, must be protected from conception until natural death. Our inalienable rights of free speech, press, assembly, religious expression and to keep and bear arms should not be abridged.” I have always been pro-life and firmly believe life needs to be protected, especially unborn innocent life. As a former US Marine, I have always believed in the 2^nd Amendment and have had a concealed carry permit for at least four years.

Education - “As parents are ultimately responsible for their children’s education … support measures which give parents more choices for educating their children.” I have been involved in our school system in several ways since my daughter was in Kindergarten, seven years ago, including Past President of the Garfield School PTA. I have previously been endorsed by EdWatch, (http://edwatch.org/).

Strengthening Families - “Government needs to reaffirm the unique and central role of the traditional family and strong family values which are the foundation of American society.” Our current representatives have supported redefining marriage into, “between two people”. I would not allow that to happen. I signed the Marriage Protection Pledge in 2006.

Protecting Public Safety - “The most fundamental function of government is to keep us secure in our property and our persons …” I have continually been a voice for our law enforcement and fire protection agencies.

Strengthening the Rule of Law - “Judges should adhere to the constitution and refrain from legislating from the bench.” When I served as a US Marine, I took an oath to protect the Constitution of the United States and will continue to do so.

Environment, Energy and Agriculture - “The environment needs to be conserved for future generations and that it needs to be done without enacting radical and unnecessary regulations that trample on the rights of people and forces them out of their jobs.” Whenever the government strives to put more government control on our people, they take away our freedoms.

Defending American at Home and Abroad - “Peace is best maintained by having a strong national defense, securing our own borders, and by encouraging all peoples to seek freedom, democracy and free enterprise.” As a former US Marine … enough said.
